On Thursday, November 14, 2024, Mother and Unborn Baby Care had their 40th Anniversary Gala at Saint John's Resort in Plymouth, MI. Fr. Joe Krupp was the emcee of the evening, with keynote speaker Fr. Mike Schmitz. His Eminence, Adam Joseph Cardinal Maida, archbishop emeritus of the Detroit Archdiocese, was also in attendance. On Saturday, October 26, 2024, the Catholic High Schools competed in the Catholic High School Football Championships, the Prep Bowl, at Ford Field. Michigan 1 Color Corps was on hand to present the colors, and the entire State Board was on hand at the game to cheer on the high school players.

On September 14, 2024, the Knights of Columbus in Ontario Canada kicked off Ontario 125, celebrating 125 of Knights gf Columbus in Ontario, Canada. The Ontario group was led by State Deputy Bruce Poulin, Deputy Supreme Knight Arthur Peters, Auxilary State Chaplain Most Reverend Bishop Bryan Bayda, Vice Supreme Master Joe Matthews, Master Paul Johnston and Former Master Gordon Edwards. On August 11, 2024, Sir Knights from Michigan District 1 joined Sir Knights and brothers from the 5th Ontario District in Canada at Holy Rest Cemetery for a memorial service celebrating the Feast Day of Blessed Fr. Michael McGivney. The cemetery serves as the home for a Blessed Fr. McGivney statue, donated by the Ontario area Knights of Columbus councils and assemblies. [August 11, 2024]
From Wednesday, July 17 through Friday, July 26, Color Corps members of Michigan District 1 participated in the Ste. Anne Novena Masses and Feast Day Mass and celebration. All Masses were at the Basilica of Ste. Anne de Detroit. Each Novena Mass also celebrates some various cultures in the area. Additionally, on Sunday, July 21, members of the 5th Ontario District joined us for the Mass and celebration of French heritage. [July 21, 2024]
On Sunday July 7, Assembly 2136 St. Francis of Assisi participated in the first Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows by new priest Rev. Ryan Asher, ordained earlier this year. Joining Rev. On Thursday, July 4th, 2024, members of Michigan District 1 joined together to march in the Wyandotte Independence Day Parade. Family members as well as the Knights on Bikes joined the Sir Knights. Continuing a long-standing tradition, members of Michigan District 1 headed to Windsor to join the 5th Ontario District and Dean Wagner Assembly 862 for the Canada Day Parade on July 1. The parade heads through the streets of Windsor celebrating the anniversary of Canadian Confederation which occurred on July 1, 1867. [July 1, 2024]
On Sunday, June 30, 2024, District 1 Sir Knights joined the Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church in Detroit. A procession in honor of the canonization of St. Maria Di Gesu Santocanale (Santa Fara) was held after the Mass. [June 30, 2024]

On Saturday, June 1, 2024, local residents, the VFW Honor Guard and Color Corps members of Michigan District 1 joined members of assembly 2804 St. Mary of the Lake as they dedicated a new Veterans Memorial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Ira Township. The Veterans Memorial was donated by the assembly with about 2 years of work to make it happen. [June 1, 2024]
On Thursday, May 30, 2024, Color Corps members from across the state came together at Kelly Shorts Stadium at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, MI, for the Michigan Special Olympics Opening Ceremony. Over 30 Sir Knights helped greet over 2000 athletes participating in the summer games. State Deputy Barry Borsenik and Lady Mandy, along with Special Olympics State Program Director Robbie Waclawski and Special Olympics Assistant Willy Winkle, were also on hand. [May 30, 2024]

On Wednesday, May 22 through Friday, May 24, 2024, Knights of Columbus members from across the state joined together for the annual State Convention. Fourth Degree Sir Knights participated in a Eucharistic Procession from Saint Anne's Church to the Grand Hotel, all three convention Holy Masses, posting as well as retiring the colors, the Living Rosary on the front lawn and posting watch during Eucharistic Adoration. Our very own district friar Fr. Paul Ballien was also in the Eucharistic Procession.

On Sunday, April 7, 2024, members of districts 103, 118 and 123 were present for the 82nd Annual Sri-District Rally. The Mass was at St. Augustine in Richmond, MI. Sir Knights from four assemblies in the area, as well as the State Board, were on hand for the event. [April 8, 2024]
On Divine Mercy Sunday, April 7, 2024, a celebration and Silver Rose prayer service was held in District 101, hosted by St. Hubert Council 11658 in Harrison Township. The Silver Rose was escorted to St. Hubert parish by State Faith Director/Silver Rose Director Bob “Ace” Bagley and the Knights on Bikes. Many Brother Knights and 4th Degree Color Corps members joined the St. Hubert parishioners for a beautiful and solemn Mass, and stayed for the Silver Rose prayer service. [April 7, 2024]

A small Michigan District 1 Knights of Columbus Honor Guard joined Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron, State Deputy Christopher Kolomjec and other members of the Michigan State Board, Dr. Lisa Knysz and Dr. Leisa Marie Carzon for the ribbon cutting and dedication of the Heart of Christ Clinic. The clinic, in the former convent of the Basilica of Ste Anne in Detroit, will officially open its doors on January 22, 2024. The clinic also will offer comprehensive health care for the whole family and, down the road, offer vaccines for children.

On November 7, 2023, members of the Michigan District 1 Color Corps gathered at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit for the installation of His Excellency the Most Reverend Jeffery Monforton as auxiliary bishop of Detroit. Archbishop Vigneron presided at the Mass in which His Eminence the Most Reverend Christophe Cardinal Pierre, Papal Nuncio the the United States, read the Pope’s Apostolic Letter of appointment for Bishop Monforton.

On Sunday, November 5, 2023, Knights of Columbus from across the state gathered at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit for the state's annual Detroit Archdiocese Vocations League Memorial Mass. District 1 Color Corps Sir Knights escorted Fr. Stephen Burr into the chapel for the services.
This Mass is celebrated each year on the first Sunday in November to remember those Knights of Columbus that have passed away in the previous year.

Cardinal Pierre was at St. Toma to concelebrate a memorial mass for those that died in the Hamdaniya banquet fire in Iraq. [October 29, 2023]

On Sunday, June 11, 2023, Sir Knights joined other faith-filled Catholics for the celebration of the Body and Blood of Christ, otherwise known as Corpus Christi. The district had no less than 11 requests for Color Corps for the various Masses and Eucharistic Processions in the Detroit Archdiocese. Assemblies rose to the occasion and made every effort to provide at least a few people for every event requested. [June 11, 2023]

On May 28, 2023, newly ordained priest Fr. Andrew Smith celebrated his first Mass at St. Peter's in Mt. Clemens. Sir Knights from the area were on hand, paying tribute to Fr. On Saturday, February 18, 2022, Sir Knights of Michigan District One gathered for their spring meeting at St. Kateri Ketakwitha Catholic Church in Dearborn, MI. A variety of topics were discussed. Additionally, assembly awards were distributed for the 2022-2023 Fraternal Year that were not received in time for Fall Harvest Meeting.

Schulte assembly 0492, Pope John XXIII assembly 1536, and 2136 St. Francis of Assisi Color Corps were joined by the American Legion Post 32 Livonia Honor Guard, State Chaplain Aidan Logan, State Deputy Chris Kolomjec, Archdiocesan Chaplain Paul Ballien, and State Warden Dan Fuller for Wreaths Across America at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights. On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, Color Corps members of Michigan District 1 participated in the Ste. Anne Feast Day Mass and celebration, concluding the Novena to Ste. Anne at the Basilica of Ste. Anne's de Detroit. Every year it late July, Ste. Anne de Detroit holds a novena that also celebrates the various cultures in the area, and culminates with a Mass celebrated on the Feast of Ste. Anne. Archbishop Allen Vigneron was the presider at the Mass, and celebrated the 46th anniversary of his ordination. [July 26, 2022]
On Saturday, May 14, 2022, Knights of Columbus members from across Michigan gathered in Lansing at our state’s capital building on the front lawn for the annual Living Rosary. Over 60 Sir Knights, along with Knights of Columbus State Officers, participated in the event. State Chaplain Fr. Paul helped lead the rosary, along with the rest of the State Officers. On Saturday, November 6, 2021, Sir Knights and Ladies of Michigan District 1 gathered at Fr. Kramer Hall in Centerline, MI, for the Fall Harvest District Meeting and Packing Party. At the Packing Party, Ladies of the district help pack 101 boxes for troops overseas. At the District Meeting, the District Master Mark Brezenski, Former Vice Supreme Master Clifford Wasmund and State Advocate Charlie McCuen addressed members of the District. After lunch, District Master Mark Brezenski presented the Star Award from last fraternal year to one assembly and the Red, White and Blue Award to those assemblies that earned the distinction. District One assemblies, Sir Knights and Ladies, as well as the District, also collected over $2000 for Desert Angels to help defer the cost of postage for shipping the boxes.

On October 31, 2021, State Chaplain Rev. Paul Ballien celebrated Mass at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit in honor of the 1st anniversary of the Beatification of Fr. Michael J. McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus. Along with the State Deputy, State Secretary and State Treasurer, the Fourth Degree was invited. On Sunday, July 11, 2021, members of Michigan District 1 were invited to participate in Archbishop Allen Vigneron's 25th Anniversary Mass. The archbishop was joined by auxilary bishops Donald Hanchon, Robert Fisher and Gerard Battersby as well as Chaldean Bishop Francis Kalabat. [July 11, 2021]
On Saturday, July 3, 2021, members of Michigan District 1 joined together to march in the Wyandotte Independence Day Parade, this year held on July 3rd. Family members as well as the Knights on Bikes joined the Sir Knights. Host assembly 475 Msgr. Francis Van Antwerp and host council 1802 Wyandotte served as the gathering location both before and after the parade. [July 3, 2021]
On Saturday, June 5, 2021, members of Michigan District 1 joined other Michigan districts from across the state for a Living Rosary in Lansing, MI. Sponsored by the Micigan State Council Knights of Columbus, the Living Rosary is offered in Humble Prayer, for our petitions, the Church’s protection, and especially the needs of our Society. On Wedenesday, May 5, 2021, State Officers gathered at St. John Neumann in Canton, MI, to tape the Rosary and Mass that will be shown as part of the virtual State Convention later in the month. Sir Knights from Michigan District 1, as well as Sir Knights from Michigan District 2, were on hand to be part of the Mass and Rosary. St. John Neumann is the home parish of State Chaplain Fr. Paul Ballien. [May 5, 2021]
On April 14, 2021, the Knights of Columbus Silver Rose was on display at St. John Neumann in Canton. District Master Mark Brezenski and members of Msgr Schulte assembly 492, Pope John XXIII assembly 1536 and St. Francis of Assisi assembly 2136 were present to stand guard over the relic. A prayer service followed the time for veneration and silent prayer. [April 14, 2021]
On April 14, 2021, District Master Mark Brezenski joined members of Pope John XXIII assembly 1536 to visit and complete the knighting of Sir Knight Kevin Sullivan. In September 2020 Kevin was exemplified to the Fourth Degree in the first Michigan District 1 virtual exemplification. Because of a myriad of issues, Kevin has been unable to attend a meeting with either his council or the assembly to complete the knighting. The District Master and members of the assembly's Color Corps completed the knighting at Kevin's house with Lady Mimi looking on. Congratulations, and welcome Sir Knight Kevin Sullivan and Lady Mimi! On Saturday, October 31, 2020, members of Michigan District 1 Color Corps participated in a procession in Downtown Detroit honoring the beatification of the Knights of Columbus founder Fr. Michael J. McGivney. Participants walked about 3 miles as part of the procession. [October 31, 2020]
On Friday, October 30, 2020, Sir Knights from Michigan District One gathered at the Basilica of the Shrine of the Little Flower for a Mass honoring the Beatification of Fr. Michael J. McGivney. The special Mass included a 25 minute video presentation about Fr. McGivney's life and an interview with the family who was the recipient of the miracle attributed to his inercession, which provided the necessary requirement to elevate him from Venerable to Blessed. On Sunday, September 20, 2020, Sir Knights from Michigan District One gathered at the Basilica of Ste. Anne de Detroit for the Mass of Thanksgiving where the Basilica proclamation was read. Archbishop Allen Vigneron presided over the Mass with Auxiliary Bishop Don Hanchon also concelebrating.

Members of the Macomb County Veterans Ritual Team were also on hand, as Fred was a veteran of the United States Navy. [August 29, 2020]

Boy Scout Nick Lowe completed his Eagle Scout Project -- a chapel Gazebo at Camp Liberty in Brooklyn, MI. Camp Liberty helps returning veterans and their families with an emphasis on assisting those with post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries. Donations from Knights of Columbus Councils and Assemblies help Nick complete this project. [August 13, 2019]
On Sunday, June 23, 2019, Color Corps members from Michigan District 1 joined Color Corps members of the 5th Ontario District for a flag pole dedication at the Venerable Fr. Michael J. McGivney Statue Site at Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Ontario, Canada. Those assembled marched to the flag pole site where Sir Knights were recognized for their service, the flag pole, flag and stature were blessed and the Knights of Columbus flag was raised on the new flag pole. On Monday, May 27, 2019, members of Michigan District 1 Sir Knights participated in Memorial Day Parades and festivities, honoring those that served and made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Demonstrating their fraternal zeal, Sir Knights from Ontario, Canada joined with Michigan Sir Knights, the Hennepin Province Vince Supreme Master and Michigan District 1 Master in the Sterling Heights parade. Fourth Degree Sir Knights participated in all three Holy Masses, posting as well as retiring the colors, the living rosary on the front lawn and guarding during Eucharistic Adoration. The relic is in the United States and sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. On Saturday, the relic was at St. John Vianney in Shelby Township. On Sunday, November 4, 2018, Fourth Degree Knights gathered for the Fall Harvest Meeting, while their Ladies packed boxes for Desert Angels. Not only were 178 boxes packed for the troops, over $2800 was collected for Desert Angels. Additionally, a number of Assemblies received the Civic Award and two Assemblies won the Red, White and Blue award.

On Thursday, December 14, 2017, members of Pope John XXIII Assembly joined with the Msgr. Schulte Assembly for a Christmas Party. Also in attendance were Vice Supreme Master Cliff Wasmund with Lady Susan and Master John Hundiak with Lady Elizabeth.
Before dinner, Master John Hundiak presented Msgr. Schulte Assembly with the Star Assembly Award, the only Assembly in Michigan District 1 to receive such an award.
After dinner, the Msgr. Shulte LOTA handed out raffle prizes to lucky winners. Dancing followed.
