LOTA stands for Ladies Of The Assembly. As the name implies, we are the elite group of wives, widows and significant others of the 4th Degree Sir Knights of the Knights of Columbus, and we carry the title of Lady.
By our Faith you are called to serve, inspire and are challenged to do God's work. You would emerge in your communities as a positive influence to uphold the high ideas of life and morals of our Catholic teachings, and to embrace the principal of Faith through love in the promotion of Family, Charity and Humanity.
You are already a part of the Charity, Unity and Fraternity by standing behind your Sir Knights, who have fully chosen this path. To further that support, you would be standing by your Sir Knights with that which is so very important to all of us --Charity, Unity, Fraternity, Family and Country.
The primary function of the LOTA would be in providing monetary help and assistance at events. But it would not stop there. You would offer support with fund raisers. Your LOTA would assist the Sir Knights in planning and working their fund raisers and raffles in addition to your own. Which would yet again further the support of the Assembly.
This is the highest honor of the LOTA. The 1st Lady's responsibility is to reside at all meetings and to interpret the aims and ideas of the LOTA. This person will be the LOTA's representative in many community affairs. This person will be the voice in business and professional activities. In turn the ladies of the organization will give you their strength and support at all times.
Must always be ready to assume the duties of the 1st Lady should it be required. It is the 2nd Lady's primary responsibility to harmonize the effort with those of the 1st Lady at all times and to strive to work faithfully with the 1st Lady to carry out the LOTA's most important goal. This person will also be tasked to work closely with the committees and will help plan new programs during the year.
This person is responsible to record accurately the business, activities and achievements during the year. This person will give a report to the general membership at each meeting. The Minutes will serve as a history for the future. They will also be used to see how well an activity was attended, conditions preventing attendance and time value of a project.
This is the financial representative of the LOTA. This person will be entrusted with all of the monetary matters. The Lady Purser is pledged to safeguard all funds through sound business procedures and may dispense funds only at the time and such a manner as the LOTA may instruct. The LOTA's finances must be replenished through worthy activities and it is the Purser's duty to call attention to the needs for funds, thus inspiring members to new efforts.
Two ladies elected to review the financial records of the LOTA and report their recommendations to the officers and members. They will read the current bills and after the bills are approved for payment, will issue vouchers for bills to be paid.
Please contact the Faithful Navigator of the Assembly in which you are interested and he will put you in touch with the First Lady.
If you are interesting in starting a LOTA, please contact the Worthy Master, Gene Suchyta. Also, if you have a LOTA that is active and not listed, please contact your Marshal or the Worthy Master so that District records can be updated.
